M31, Imaged with an
AP 10" Mak-Cassegrain and AP 9" Mak-Newtonian

Here is a sneak preview of our latest project. In collaboration with Mark and
Trent, we are attempting the ultimate M31. It will be a mosaic of 9 panels
taken with the 9" F4.3 FastMax Mak-Newt with core detail added from my 10"
Mak telecompressed to F11. This is panel #1 in black&white (see a color version here). Note
the core detail and in particular the strange spiral loop coming in what seems like
above the galactic core (bottom of the picture) and looping directly into the
core. almost looks like a second small spiral galaxy colliding with the main galaxy.
