M-31, Photoshop Stack
These images show the gains accomplished through digitally adding two photographs
and masking. The upper photograph is a single exposure, the middle shows the
result of adding two exposures. And the lower shows the two exposures masked and
added, gaining detail in the bright nucleus. These examples are admittedly "quick
and dirty" and serve only to illustrate the methods described in detail HERE.
The two original photographs were each one hour on Fujicolor Super G-800+.
