M-31, Masking in Photoshop
These images show the primary steps for masking in Photoshop. The top image shows
the original image converted to grayscale and inverted. The middle image shows
the effects of reduced contrast and blurring. And the final image shows removal
of bright stars and a further reduction of contrast. Use this as a guide for creating
your own masks...all masks will differ to some degree.
